| Couple tie the knot at Star Wars-themed wedding
A Star Wars-mad couple have tied the intergalactic knot after basing their entire wedding on the sci-fi smash. Window cleaner Bramwell Brightey, 33, wore a Han Solo outfit to wed Tamsyn Lofts, 29, in her Princess Leia gear. The pair, who have seen the film 500 times, were joined by a Rebel Alliance of 50 guests with Chewie, Obi Wan and two storm-troopers - but Darth Vader was barred. For their dance, the pair, from Epsom, Surrey, dimmed the lights and whipped out light sabres. Bramwell said: .
Benidorm star Sheila Reid on her real-life wedding
In the sitcom wedding of the year, Benidorm's razor-tongued, perma-tanned gran Madge glides down the aisle in her mobility scooter to wed wrinkly sunbed tycoon Mel. But will Madge be hitched or ditched by thong-wearing Mel (played by Geoffrey Hutchings), who is described as Didsbury's answer to Julio Iglesias? Wedding Cake Orders Stolen in Wisconsin Bakery Robbery
A Wisconsin bakery is in a scramble to match 200 wedding cakes with the brides and grooms who ordered them after a robbery stole their safe. Burglars stole the safe at LaSure's Cafe and Bakery during a break-in early Tuesday. Owner Bob Heisler wasn't too concerned until he realized the safe held the contracts for every wedding cake order for the next two years. "My wife just about screamed," he said. "I mean, she just went nuts." The Heislers keep a hand-written record of every order -- the same way they’ve done it for 30 years, and the list is not backed up on a computer. The contracts include detailed drawings and requests for each of the nearly 250 wedding cakes they prepare each year. "Anything for after this coming Sunday, we don't have a contract," Heisler said.
Geri Halliwell's September wedding
Geri Halliwell is getting married. The former Spice Girls star - who has a two-year-old daughter Bluebell - is planning a September wedding with her backing dancer partner Ivan 'Flipz' Velez. A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Geri has a huge diamond and an even bigger grin on her face now that she and Ivan are marrying. "It's been a whirlwind affair but when you know, you know and she doesn't care if she's criticised for being hasty. "Her daughter loves Ivan and that's the only opinion she cares about." The ceremony will reportedly take place at London's St. Bride's church, often dubbed the 'writer's church' because it is located on Fleet Street the former home of many newspapers, after Geri recently launched a new career as a children's novelist. The source added: "She's always wanted to be a September bride." Geri, who met 'Flipz' during the Spice Girls reunion tour, recently revealed she is considering adopting.
Wedding cake bittersweet
Justin Ruttan, a gay Toronto wedding planner who launched a company catering to homosexual couples in March, supports same-sex marriage. He also supports making money. And, hence, he has a dilemma. In a 4-3 decision yesterday, California's Supreme Court overturned the state's ban on same-sex nuptials, making California the second U.S. state to permit them – and the first to allow them for all Americans regardless of where they live. When the court's ruling takes effect in 30 days, Toronto's same-sex wedding industry will face a new challenge from the Golden State: Gay and lesbian couples from any place in the U.S. will be able to wed anywhere from San Diego to San Francisco. Toronto established itself as perhaps North America's prime destination for gay marriage after it began issuing licences to same-sex couples in June 2003.
